New Tennis Court Construction

When it comes to constructing a new tennis court in Essex, it is essential to work with a professional company that will ensure you are left with a perfect court for all your needs. A new court is a big decision, but our team has the necessary skills to ensure that all your requirements are met and exceeded.

Upon your initial enquiry, we will ascertain your needs and schedule a suitable time to conduct a site survey. During our visit, we will be able to assess all the necessary variables, such as the court location, drainage, access requirements, and any necessary landscaping. It also allows you to ask us any questions and ensure that all your needs are fully met.

Court location is a big consideration; while optional, installing any court with the length facing North to South is good practice. This means that players are not blinded when the sun rises in the East and sets in the West.

Another consideration is planning. In most instances, when the court is installed within your private garden, it is not required for the actual court itself, but it can be necessary for the fence surrounding it, depending on a few variables. If, however, your property is listed, or the land where you wish the court to be constructed on requires its usage changed, then planning is likely to be needed for the actual court too. We can fully advise you on this upon our initial site visit.

The ground level is also another consideration that we will take into account. Whilst your newly installed tennis court will be perfectly flat upon completion, it does not mean the proposed area has to initially be level. We have been able to install courts on uneven and sloped areas; all it means is that we will have to carry out more levelling, and excavation, which is common practice for us.

We can also take care of any necessary drainage, landscaping, and groundwork. All operatives at Tennis Court Construction Essex have vast experience to ensure that your newly constructed court and its surroundings look stunning, and will give you years of pleasure.

Tennis Court Resurfacing Essex

A tennis court is a terrific addition to any residential or commercial property, but over the years, the court surface will deteriorate, and a resurface will be required. We have many years of experience with court resurfacing, and you can be sure that we can take even the worst-looking court and transform it into something that will look stunning!

Every court resurface is different, but here is a brief general outline of how we resurface our courts:

  1. First, we thoroughly clean the existing surface to ensure that all debris, moss and any vegetation have been removed. We do this with a pressure washer or a rotary cleaner. This gives us a clean surface to work with.
  2.  Next, we will install a brick edging around the court’s perimeter. Generally with a thickness of between 32mm- 55mm depending on the existing surface condition.
  3.  We then break out the existing post sockets and install new ones, ensuring they are embedded in concrete.
  4.  The next step is to spike the existing surface at approximately 500mm centres; these holes are then filled with drainage chippings.
  5.  If there is damage to the existing surface, we will remove any loose sections and then install limestone into these parts and compact it.
  6.  Next, a tack coat of bitumen is applied.
  7.  Now the court is ready for the new surface to be laid. This is carried out by installing metal sections on top of the old court and then laying tarmac between each section and raking it, so it’s flush with the top of the metal. The tarmac is then rolled to compact it, leaving you with a completely level surface.
  8.  The lines are now added.
  9.  After about three weeks, the court is ready to apply the colour coat. We tape up the lines and then use an airless spray-textured top coat.
  10.  New posts and nets fitted, and any other remedial works carried out (Fencing, landscaping, etc.)
  11.  Your newly refurbished court is now ready for you to enjoy for years to come!

This procedure outlines how a tennis court is resurfaced; however, every scenario is different, and we will always use our skills and experience to ensure that the works we are carrying out are specifically suited to your court’s needs.

Please do feel free to contact us anytime, and we will be happy to schedule a survey at a convenient time for you.

Pickleball Court Construction, Essex

Pickleball courts are becoming increasingly popular in the UK and can be a perfect solution if you are looking for what some people describe as a ‘mini tennis court.’ Pickleball courts measure only 44ft x 20ft, so compared to a regular tennis court which is 78ft x 36ft, the space savings are pretty substantial. The other difference is the net height, which is 34”, 2” shorter than a regular court.

If you are considering a pickle ball court, we can take care of all your installation needs. We’ll conduct a site survey to assess that the installation will meet your requirements and then advise you on the proposed works to ensure you are left with the perfect court for you, your family, and friends.

At Tennis Court Construction Essex our operatives have years of experience and will ensure that your newly constructed court meets all pickleball regulation standards. We’ll take care of the complete installation, including fencing, lighting, and any required landscape and drainage works; leaving you with your dream court!

Other Tennis Court Services

We offer various other services to complement your new tennis or pickleball court, and we can incorporate all of these at the same time as a court installation or resurface if required.

Landscaping.

As part of the installation process of your new tennis court, landscaping, to a varying degree, is typically required. Whether it is necessary to level an area where your new court is being located prior to installation, which can involve cutting into sloped land, and then adding a retaining wall, or even a new pathway is required to seamlessly join your court to the rest of your property, then we can help. No matter your landscaping requirements, we’ll ensure they are completed to an exact standard that perfectly complements your court, and its surroundings.

Drainage

Suitable drainage is essential for any tennis court. At Tennis Court Construction Essex, we will ensure that before installing your new court or resurfacing your existing one, all drainage has been taken care of so that you don’t have to worry about any potential flooding issues.

Fencing

Maybe your existing tennis court fencing has become damaged or looks tired and worn out. If so, then we can upgrade it to give your court a facelift. Fencing is a significant part of any court, and ensuring it is in sound condition is crucial. Whether you are considering replacement due to damage or aesthetic reasons, we will be happy to advise you of all the available options.
